Technical Manager – Architectural Ironmongery & Hardware

SFR Recruitment Solutions are proud to be representing one of the UK’s leading suppliers of internal doors and door solutions, in the recruitment of a Technical Manager to support the continued growth of its architectural ironmongery and hardware offering.
This is an exciting opportunity for a GAI-qualified architectural ironmonger or hardware specialist looking to move into a more commercially focused technical role with a respected and rapidly growing business.
The Opportunity
As Technical Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing and supporting an expanding hardware portfolio. Acting as the technical expert within the business, you will work closely with the sales, marketing, purchasing and senior leadership teams, providing guidance on product selection, compliance, specifications and range development.
This is an ideal position for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with commercial influence, helping to shape the future direction of a growing product category.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal sales and marketing teams.
- Support customers with architectural ironmongery and hardware enquiries.
- Work with senior management to develop and expand the hardware range.
- Liaise with suppliers and the purchasing team on product selection and development.
- Assist in producing technical documentation, product information and marketing content.
- Ensure products comply with relevant standards and industry requirements.
- Support training initiatives for internal teams and customers where required.
About You
- GAI qualified (DipGAI or equivalent preferred).
- Strong technical knowledge of architectural ironmongery, door hardware and associated standards.
- Experience within an ironmongery distributor, hardware manufacturer, door manufacturer or specification environment.
- Commercially aware with excellent communication skills.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Passionate about delivering technical excellence and developing product solutions.
The Package
- £40,000 – £50,000 basic salary (depending on experience and qualifications).

Location & Working Arrangement
This is a hybrid role based in Cambridgeshire.
Candidates located within commuting distance would be expected to spend up to four days per week in the office. Those based further afield can work predominantly remotely with occasional visits to the business.
